Update SQL4automation

This guide describes how to update an existing SQL4automation Connector installation from previous versions to the latest version meanwhile keeping the current configuration in place.

Keeps Connector Settings The Same

The Connector configuration is preserved during the upgrade. You can safely replace any version of SQL4automation with the installer, your links and settings will not get lost. If you want to create a backup of the configuration, simply copy the S4AConnector.ini file onto a location of your choice.

It is stored at:

C:\ProgramData\SQL4automation\config\S4AConnector.ini

Windows

On Windows, the installer overwrites the old version of the Connector. There is no need to uninstall the previous version first.

Linux

On Linux, the old version must be uninstalled before installing the new one.

1. Uninstall the old version

Change into the directory where SQL4automation is installed and run:

sudo ./S4AComplete-uninst
warning

If the uninstallation fails, make sure the SQL4automation service has been stopped before running the command again.

The Connector configuration is stored at:

/var/log/SQL4automation/

2. Install the current version

Change into the directory where SQL4automation should be installed, then:

  1. Unzip the archive S4A_Linux.tar.gz:

    tar -zxf S4A_Linux.tar.gz
  2. Change into the amd64 directory and run the installer:

    cd amd64
    sudo ./S4AComplete-inst
